Welcome my name is Carpucine Childs Gainer “CC Gainer”. I have been working in the film
industry for over 7 years. As a young child, I always loved being creative. My love for makeup
began at the tender age of two when I was captivated while watching “The Making of Michael
Jackson’s Thriller” which documented Special effects Makeup Artist Rick Baker transforming
Michael into the Cat monster for his thriller video. Little did I know a seed had been planted
that would blossom and transform me into the multi-faceted artist I am today. While attending
Florida A&M University studying Criminal Justice and Photography, I realized that was not what
I wanted to do. I enrolled in a Theatre makeup course where I rediscovered my passion for
Makeup.
In 2003, I landed my first job at a makeup counter working for Lancôme cosmetics.
During my time at the makeup counter, I had the opportunity to work on numerous women
with different features, ages, and nationalities which allowed me to hone my makeup skills. In
2006, I decided to further my education and moved to Burbank CA to attend Makeup
Designory. While at MUD, I mastered my beauty makeup skills and learned character and
special effects makeup. I graduated in 2007 with a Master of Makeup Diploma. I moved to
Atlanta GA to begin a career in Film and Television. I gained experience by working on short
films, web series and features. In 2012, I was cast as a special effect’s makeup contestant on
the SYFY hit series Faceoff where I competed against artists for 100,000. In 2018, I became a
member of IASTE Local 798 makeup union which was a long- term goal of mine. My most recent
work can be seen on the BET series “American soul” where I was the Key Makeup Artist.
